NMAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the NMAT 2025, candidates must carefully check both the exam and the institute-specific eligibility requirements. Not meeting these conditions may lead to rejection at later stages of the admission process.
Here are the general eligibility criteria, which remain largely the same across most participating B-schools:
- Age Limit : There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in NMAT by GMAC.
- Academic Qualification : Candidates should typically have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. However, the exact minimum percentage requirement can vary from one participating institute to another.
- Work Experience : Both fresh graduates and candidates with work experience are eligible to apply. Having relevant professional experience may, however, provide an edge during the selection process for certain institutes.
Additionally, some institutes may have specific subject requirements, minimum scores, or other criteria, so aspirants should check the eligibility guidelines of their target B-schools before applying.
NMAT 2025 – Overview

1. Language Skills (36 Questions – 28 minutes)
- Question Types : Reading Comprehension (RC), Para-jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, Synonyms/Antonyms, Vocabulary Usage.
Preparation Tips
- Reading Comprehension : Practice short, fact-based RC passages daily to improve speed. Focus on skimming for keywords.
- Vocabulary : Build vocabulary using flashcards (target 5–10 new words per day). Learn root words and commonly tested synonyms/antonyms.
- Grammar : Revise common grammar rules (subject-verb agreement, tenses, modifiers).
- Para-jumbles & Sentence Correction : Practice identifying logical flow and spotting grammatical errors.
Time Management in Exam
- RC passages : 6–8 minutes total (attempt easy factual ones first).
- Vocabulary & grammar-based : 15–18 seconds per question.
- Move fast—don’t overthink.
2. Quantitative Skills (36 Questions – 52 minutes)
Question Types: Arithmetic (Percentages, Ratios, SI/CI), Algebra, Geometry, Modern Math (Permutations, Probability), Data Interpretation (Tables, Graphs, Charts), Data Sufficiency.
Preparation Tips
- Concept Clarity : Revise formulas and shortcuts for each topic.
- Arithmetic Focus : Since NMAT has many application-based questions, master percentage, profit-loss, averages, and time-speed-distance.
- DI & DS : Practice interpreting graphs quickly; avoid time-consuming sets unless easy.
- Speed Math : Learn multiplication tricks, fraction-decimal conversions, and approximation methods.

- Spend no more than 1.5 minutes per question.
- Keep last 5 minutes for reviewing marked questions.
3. Logical Reasoning (36 Questions – 40 minutes)
Question Types: Analytical Puzzles, Coding-Decoding, Series, Syllogisms, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Critical Reasoning.

- Puzzles & Arrangements : Practice linear/circular seating and grouping puzzles regularly.
- Critical Reasoning : Focus on strengthen/weaken, assumption, and conclusion-based questions.
